Yes, I'm not the run of the mill normal girl considered in society. I revel in freaking people out, scaring people and general chaos-creating. I hate seeing people unhappy or feeling down and, if they ever are, I try my damnedest to cheer them up. I love my friends, there are some wonderful people I have known for most of my life and could not live without. I'll be civil to anyone as long as they don't push their luck but I cannot stand close-minded people. My family are also very important to me and, although I'm not very close to my 2 older sisters, I am VERY close to my younger brother and my Mum. I come from a massive family that's a combination of Irish and German and so I can't begin to count the number of cousins I have!
My religion and beliefs are a big part of who I am. I value my friends for respecting what I believe in and accepting that, especially those who have differing opinions. I'm a big believer in individuality, and having your own say - it's what you are entitled to as a person.
I love animals, especially cats. I'm Mummy to 4 feline babies and 2 bunny babies, my "furry family" and I love them all. I am the personification of a crazy cat lady, but I also damn well enjoy it at the same time....
I'm very open minded, dabbling in quite a few taboo things that raise eyebrows, but I enjoy myself and my friends understand why I do the weird things I do. I never deliberately go out to cause upset with what I enjoy in life and thankfully, those who are important to me never seem to mind.
I have a light side and a dark side. I'm not trying to make myself sound disturbed or crazy but I do believe having an open personality and something just for yourself is the best way to live.
All in all, you can either laugh with me, love me or ignore me, I shalln't hate you for not understanding what you don't know. But ask me anything and I answer honestly.
My Beautiful Pets
I am currently mama to 4 cats and 2 rabbits:
Riddick Amadeus Maggs and Sassy Jezebel Maggs were both adopted at 7 weeks old back in June 2009. Originally we were only going to adopt Sassy as we had visited an unwanted litter of 3 females and one male and Nick had fallen for Sassy from the word go. Riddick was also adopted as I'd instantly fallen for his sleek, blackness and he was the last one left in the litter. We love them both equally - Sassy's a cheeky, affectionate character "Daddys Girl" and Riddick's a lazy, loyal "Mummy's Boy".
Jin Kazama Maggs was a rescue adoption back in 2009 via my family and the RSPCA and has gone from a balding, full-of-infections little mess to a very cocky, attention-seeking fluff ball who rules the roost and loves how attractive he is - full of himself but a wonderfully weird "Daddy's Boy".
Hazelnut Noodle Maggs is the youngest of our 4, being adopted in April 2011. She's grown into a boyish, cheeky character who's happy to bound around the house causing trouble for the three older cats, and bonding the most with JinJin. She's chocolate in colour with some orange stripes on her neck but it's hard to see from a distance as she appears black; similar to Riddick's coat. Ironically, Hazel has the same mother as Riddick and Sassy, and is a Mummy's Girl.
Ruby was a double-adoption with her brother Monty in 2009 and a completely spontaneous decision. She is a classic drama queen, always wanting the attention or food first, and a typical foot stamper when something displeases her, but also loving when she wants to be.
Monty was adopted at the same time as Ruby, and has a rare albino-like condition called Leucism, where there is reduced pigmentation and usually presents itself as "blue-eyed white" or BEW. He is the stud of the family, and quite protective of the other two.
What Do I Like?
I'm a big music and films fan, with a small but cosy collection of anime and manga, and a nasty habit of quoting lines from films and laughing at silly small things. I'll watch anything once just so I can say I gave it a chance.
I grew up on 80s rock bands such as Queen, Dire Straits and Status Quo. Freddie Mercury will always be an icon to me in not only his professional career but also his outlandlish life and character, and throughout the years some bands have influenced my life and how I think. Muse is one of my biggest favourites, along with Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Maroon 5, Daft Punk, Linkin Park and others. My taste in music is incredibly varied from classical music to metal, and although I naturally steer away from Jazz, Pop and Country I am sure there's a few songs from those genres I enjoy.
I'm a huge film fan, particularly in horror and sci-fi. I first started watching horror films at a very young age and this has naturally numbed me to anything people consider "scary". I think since watching "Alien" at age 4 there are less than half a dozen films that have genuinely scared me to the point of screaming, nightmares or shaking, and none of those were recent. I do, however, love a good horror film, simply for the surrealness of it all, and although there haven't been very many good horror or sci-fi films recently I do enjoy a good cinema trip and surround sound! I am also a massive fan of Tim Burton, James Cameron, Ridley Scott and Peter Jackson.
I have similar tastes in television - I am a huge Doctor Who fan, I loved Firely, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Grimm, Man v Food, Lost Girl, Star Trek, Being Human, Elementary, Sherlock and other fantasy series like that. I don't watch a lot of drama or war-stuff as I don't really find much interest in it.
I enjoy crafts, cooking and gaming. I'm a keen (yet crap) Acrylic painter, cross-stitcher, patchwork quilt-maker, chef of European/Japanese/Chinese cooking and massively into console and online gaming. I am regularly seen playing Final Fantasy or Guildwars, Sims 2 or the Gears of War trilogy on the Xbox. As well as the 360 we also have a Wii, a Gamecube, a DSi, 3DS, 2 Playstation 2s, 1 Playstation 1, a Mega Drive, a Master System 2, a Dreamcast and who-knows-what in terms of retro gaming.
I also LRP, I'm a regular with Profound Decisions and like to cause surreal chaos there as well. I'm unfortunately not one of those that can attend many systems due to a) a tight budget, and b) lack of cat-sitters - however I'm hoping to change that someday.
I love all things Victorian, 1940s, Vaudeville, ragtime, cabaret and freakish. If I had the money I'd be in a frock coat 24/7! My idols are Jack Skellington, Freddie Mercury, Sir David Attenborough, Sir Patrick Stewart, Joe Black, Edward Scissorhands, Harley Quinn, Richard B Riddick, Sweeney Todd, Dita Von Teese and Tim Burton!
Nick Maggs
I'm currently in a long-term relationship with my wonderful Nick. We are halves of one whole, and he is my everything. We met initially whilst I was with my ex a few years back, lost contact and then randomly bumped into each other after I split with James. Our friendship developed and we became an official couple on 28th June 2008 when we declared our love for each other. We are now living in a wonderful home together, paying a mortgage and raising a furry family, as well as planning our wedding for September 2013. He understands my crazy and seems to love me for it, we are always reading each other's thoughts and spending time together.
